How to get more sales
Two things drive ticket sales on SHWDWN: how many places people can buy from, and how much there is to buy. Most promoters are only using one channel and one ticket type.
Where to put your link
Your event has one link — shwdwn.co/event/… — and it works anywhere you can paste or scan. Copy it from your event's Share button. These are the places it actually earns money, roughly in order:
Instagram story, with a link sticker
Post a story, tap the sticker icon, choose Link, paste your event link, and set the text to something like “GET TICKETS”. This is the single most effective thing most promoters aren't doing — a story people can swipe on converts far better than one that tells them to “check the bio”. Repost it every few days and always the night before.
Save it to a Highlight called “TICKETS” so it doesn't vanish after 24 hours.
Instagram bio link
Put the event link directly in your bio while the event is on sale — not a link-in-bio page with nine other things on it. Every extra tap between seeing your post and reaching checkout loses people. Change it back after the show.
A QR code on your flyers and posters
Generate a QR code for your event link and put it on every printed flyer, poster, and gym noticeboard. Someone standing in front of a poster has their phone in their hand — a QR code is the difference between buying now and meaning to look it up later.
Print it at least 3cm across, and make sure the words “Scan for tickets” sit next to it. Test it with your own phone before you order 500 copies.
Every fighter's own link
Each fighter on your card gets a personal link. Sales through it are attributed to them and their commission is worked out automatically — which is exactly why they'll actually share it. Fighters reach people who are coming to watch them; that audience does not reach you any other way.
Send every fighter their link the day they accept, in the WhatsApp group you already have with them. Don't wait for them to find it. Adding fighters
WhatsApp groups
Gym groups, team groups, past-customer groups. Paste the link with one line about the card. This is unglamorous and it sells tickets — a link in a group of 60 people who already train together outperforms a post to 6,000 followers who don't.
The SHWDWN app
Your event shows to fans browsing the app and to everyone following your promotion — no work from you. Followers are the audience you keep between shows, so it's worth asking for the follow in your posts.
Your own website
Embed your event so people buy without leaving your site.
Use a different link per channel
Make a separate tracked link for each of the above — one for the story, one for the bio, one for the flyer QR code, one per partner gym. Then your analytics tell you which ones actually sold tickets instead of you guessing, and next event you can put the effort where it worked. Tracking & analytics
What you can sell
- More than one ticket type. General admission and ringside at minimum. A single price means everyone who would have paid more, didn't. Creating tickets
- Tiered pricing. Early-bird then standard. A deadline is the most reliable reason anyone has ever had to buy today instead of later.
- Stream tickets (PPV). Everyone who can't travel is still a customer, and there's no venue capacity on a stream. Stream pricing
- Ticket upgrades. Someone who already bought general admission can move up to ringside. You're selling to a customer who has already decided to come.
- Add-ons. Parking, merchandise, table service, meet-and-greets. Sold alongside the ticket at checkout, when the card is already out.
- Discount codes. For partner gyms, sponsors, or a push in a slow week — and you can see exactly how many each one sold. Discount codes
Check what's working
Your event's Analytics screen shows the conversion funnel — how many people viewed the event, started checkout, and bought — and you can filter it by source. If a lot of people are viewing and few are buying, the problem is the event page or the price, not the marketing.
