Checking in & checking out customers
On event day, use the SHWDWN mobile app to scan ticket QR codes at the door. You can check customers in when they arrive and check them out if needed.
How to check in
- Open the SHWDWN app and go to the Check-In screen from your promoter dashboard.
- Select the event. The app automatically highlights the most relevant event (the one happening soonest or currently live).
- Tap Scan to open the QR scanner.
- Point your camera at the customer's ticket QR code. The app instantly validates the ticket and marks it as used.
- A confirmation shows the ticket holder's name, ticket type, and status.
Checking out (undoing a check-in)
You can reverse a check-in if needed — the ticket status changes back to unused and can be scanned again. However, we don't recommend using check-out routinely as it provides little real value on event day. It's there if you need it (e.g. correcting an accidental scan), but most promotions won't need it.
Who can check in
Anyone with access to your promotion can check in tickets:
- Promotion owner
- Promotion admins
- Promotion staff — this is the main use case for the staff role
Offline mode
If your venue has poor connectivity, the app works offline. Check-ins are queued locally and synced automatically when the connection returns. You'll see a banner showing how many check-ins are pending sync.
Viewing checked-in customers
From the web dashboard, go to your event's Tickets tab and click View purchased tickets. Each ticket shows whether it's been used (checked in) or is still unused.
Tip: Give your door staff the staff role — it gives them check-in access without the ability to edit events or manage tickets.
