Aguanile Salsa Festival x SHWUP

Aguanile Salsa Festival is the first promoter on SHWUP, running ticketing and door check-in for its 30 August festival at Freight Brixton.

Key facts

Aguanile Salsa Festival is the first promoter to run an event on SHWUP, the general-events brand operated by SHWDWN LTD alongside its combat-sports brand SHWDWN. Both brands share one platform: ticketing, checkout, door check-in, dashboard and payouts, with fight-specific features shown only on combat events.

The festival takes place on Sunday 30 August 2026 from 3pm to midnight at Freight Brixton, 33 Brixton Station Road, London SW9 8PB. It features a salsa workshop from 3pm to 5pm led by Yudi Aguilar, a six-time salsa world champion from Cali, Colombia, followed by live music, vinyl sessions and DJs.

Ticket types are festival entry at £20 first release and £25 final release, a workshop-only ticket at £30, and a combined workshop plus festival ticket at £40. Aguanile Salsa Festival uses SHWUP for ticketing and QR door check-in; checkout upsells, ticket upgrades and pay-per-view streaming are available on the platform but not enabled for this event.

Aguanile Salsa Festival is a Colombian-led salsa promotion based in London that raises money for charitable causes alongside its events, including earthquake relief in Colombia.

Aguanile Salsa Festival is the first promoter on SHWUP. Their next festival — Sunday 30 August at Freight Brixton, nine hours of salsa from three in the afternoon until midnight — runs its ticketing and its door through us.

It is a first for the platform as much as for them. Everything SHWDWN has done so far has been combat sports. This is the first event on the other side of the house.

What SHWUP is

SHWUP is the same platform with the fight-specific tools tucked away. Parties, concerts, club nights, festivals: same ticketing, same checkout, same door check-in, same dashboard, same payouts — just without the fight card, the fighter portal and the bout invites, which would be so much clutter to somebody putting on a salsa festival. Two brands, one engine underneath. Aguanile are the first promoter running a real event on it.

Who are Aguanile Salsa Festival?

Aguanile take their name from the Héctor Lavoe and Willie Colón standard, and their own line — “El Sentimiento Del Barrio” — tells you the rest. This is not a generic Latin night. It is salsa treated as culture: live bands, vinyl sessions with the melómanos, workshops, Latin food and drink, and a room of people who take the dancing seriously.

They ran their first festival at the same Brixton venue in April and are back at a bigger scale. You can follow what they announce on Instagram, which is where the line-up lands first.

Sunday 30 August at Freight Brixton

The day opens at 3pm with a two-hour salsa workshop led by Yudi Aguilar — a six-time salsa world champion from Cali, Colombia, flying in from Spain for it — and runs through live music, vinyl and DJs until midnight. Freight Brixton sits on Brixton Station Road, a two-minute walk from the tube.

Tickets are tiered rather than one-price: festival entry on first release at £20 and final release at £25, the workshop on its own at £30, or the workshop plus full festival entry at £40. The workshop is capped by the room, so it is the one that goes first.

Aguanile’s charity work

The people behind Aguanile are Colombian, and the promotion puts its events behind causes as well as putting them on — including raising money for earthquake relief back home. What they are currently supporting goes up on their Instagram, which is the place to look rather than here.

It is worth saying plainly why that matters to a ticketing platform. When a promoter is raising money as well as selling tickets, the margin lost to fees is not an abstraction, and neither is the wait to get paid. SHWUP charges promoters nothing — the booking fee sits with the customer, and the promoter keeps the face value.

Ticketing, the door, and what comes later

For 30 August it is ticketing and the door. Everything else on the platform is available to them when they want it rather than bundled in and billed for: checkout upsells and on-the-day upgrades are switched on per event, and live streaming is there if they ever want to put a Brixton dancefloor in front of the people who could not get to Brixton.

Follow Aguanile Salsa Festival on SHWDWN to be notified when tickets and the full line-up drop.

What Aguanile run on SHWUP

What is switched on for 30 August, and what is sitting there for whenever they want it.

  • Ticketing

Tiered releases and workshop tickets sold through SHWDWN on web and in the app, with the promoter keeping the face value — the booking fee sits with the customer, not with them.

  • Door check-in

QR scanning on the door at Freight Brixton, so nine hours of arrivals get through without a queue and the team can see the room filling in real time.

  • Checkout upsells

Extras sold alongside the ticket at the point of purchase. Not switched on for this one — available per event whenever they want it.

  • Live streaming

Pay-per-view streaming sits on the same platform, ready if they ever want to put the dancefloor in front of people who could not make it to Brixton.

Aguanile is where passion meets rhythm.
